Court day, also known as trade days are on their way to Preston, Kentucky. It is a three-day event that ends the 3rd Monday in October. It is over a century old. Preston is a small community located in Bath County, KY, just off of I-64, exit 121. It’s neighboring cities include Owingsville and Mt.Sterling. Preston’s population is only about 500 and on Court Day weekend, it is estimated to have about 10,000 visitors. So you know something exciting is going on.
Each year the number of trading booths grow. People travel from all over to buy, sell, trade and browse. You have a large selection of merchandise to choose from. Everything from new items such as t-shirts, shoes, purses, housewares, etc. to those one of a kind antiques. You just might find what you need to finish off your collection. Whatever that may be. It also has a large number of animal booths. Dogs are a main attraction due to the fact of many hunters in the area.
The food booths are incredible. Preston Court Days has the best home cooking around. Churches come out with their church booths and offer up good home cooking. Whether it is country ham, brown beans, cornbread, or yummy cheeseburgers, you can find it. And you will love it. Preston Court Days is a great way to ring in fall. So come on out and join in all the fun.

7:30 a.m. Shorebirds and Waterfowl at Minor Clark Fish Hatchery –
For those wanting to see the shorebirds and waterfowl this is the trip for you. More than 200 species have been observed in this area. Meet in front of the Hatchery on KY 801. – Lew Kornman, trip leader.
7:30 a.m. Warblers, Wetlands and Woods –
Here’s your chance to see warblers, a sure place to see Blue-Winged Warblers and other early-successional forest species. The wetlands and mature forest habitats will add a variety of species. This trip meets at the Shallow Flats Wetlands Observation Deck on KY 801. – Fred Busroe, trip leader.
1:00 p.m. Build a Bluebird Nest Box –
We have hammers, nails and wood ready for you to build your very own Bluebird Nest Box. Meet at the Morehead Ranger District Visitor Center on KY 801. Kids welcome and limited to 25 participants.
Walks are limited to 15 participants. You will need comfortable shoes, quiet clothing and drinking water. Hats, sunscreen, bird field guide and binoculars recommended, but not required. Walks will end at 11:00 a.m. Bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy the Cave Run Lake area.

Enjoy America’s best loved storytellers in a beautiful mountain lakeside setting. Let these talented artists take you away to other times and places through the intrigue of storytelling. Stories will be told in large tents on the shore of Cave Run Lake in the Daniel Boone National Forest located eight miles west of Morehead, Kentucky. Ghost stories by the beach fire on Saturday evening Family storytelling on Friday and Saturday evening interpretive programs will be offered by Daniel Boone National Forest personnel.
